HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Project proponents are invited

The Facility invites the participation of a broad range of project proponents -- established businesses, start-up entrepreneurs, non-governmental organisations, and local and national governments -- from many different industry sectors. The Facility is active in developing countries around the world, reflecting UNDP's global reach.

As a first step, project proponents submit an initial application to the Facility for preliminary screening. UNDP has created tools and templates for project proponents to use in supplying the necessary information for the initial application:

Project Idea Note (PIN): project proponents are asked to fill out the screening sections of UNDP's Project Idea Note. The PIN serves as the initial contact between project proponent and the Facility, and is the basis for the screening exercise to determine a project's eligibility to participate in the Facility.

Information Note: The Note is essential reading for becoming familiar with the Facility. It sets out details on the Facility, the project cycle, services available and contractual frameworks.

Independent Information Pack: The Pack summarizes third-party sources of information that may be useful to project proponents. Sources include international frameworks, markets and trading, news, conferences and United Nations resources.

Once the Project Idea Note has been completed as much as possible, please send it electronically to the MDG Carbon Facility representative in your region.
